In my opinion the process of unplugging from the control system is a slow and gradual ordeal. Eventually you get to a point where you realize just how corrupt our current state of journalism and news reporting is and you just give up on it all together.

This has been a healthy move for me. I cut mainstream news and talk radio out of my media diet and slowly began to feel some of my creativity and critical thinking skills coming back to life.

These days I get informed of daily events from the wikipedia home page, and when I feel like expanding on that I seek out an independent, alternative source. My current favorite is The Corbett Report by James Corbett. He lives in Japan and does a great job at connecting dots and reading between the lines.

It feels like he's keeping up to date on what little bit of real information is leaking out so you don't have to.
